The underground water that has to be extracted during implementation of the open pit mining can be stored and used for irrigation through a channel network pipelines in the surrounding mine area. Therefore, the areas agricultural productivity would be increased. He also mentioned that the demand for a new district in any name comprising 6 upazilas is well-justified.
The minister told these in a reception ceremony organized by the local Awami League at Mizan Market Yard, Birampur on Sunday last. The reception was presided over by Mizanur Rahman Mondol, the President of Upazila Awami League. He said we couldn’t implement the coal project. If the project gets implemented, there would be huge development in the area to occur and also large employment opportunity would be created. The local representatives would have been engaged in the process to accelerate the development.
Mr. Shibli Sadik, the member of parliament of Dinajpur-6 constituency and also the special guest of the ceremony, said he would raise the demand for implementation of Birampur District in the introductory speech in the parliament.
