CCNEWS: The Supreme Court (SC) has fixed April 5 for hearing of a petition filed by the convicted war criminal Mohammad Kamaruzzaman seeking review of the top court’s verdict that upheld his death sentence for war crimes.
The four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha fixed the date on Wednesday morning regarding a time petition filed by the death-row Jamaat leader’s defence.
On Tuesday, Kamaruzzaman’s defence lawyers sought four weeks of time for conducting the hearing of the review petition over his death sentence.
Earlier, Kamaruzzaman’s lawyers also filed a review plea on the 14th day of publication of the full verdict by the top court for a review hearing.
Earlier on February 18, the Appellate Division of SC released the full verdict of the death sentence of the Jamaat leader.
